 At Textbook Teachers we take our responsibilities very seriously and safeguarding is embedded in everything we do.

We are committed to achieving the highest compliance standards in the industry and pride ourselves on being a Corporate Member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, audited by government-approved auditing bodies; recognised as a certificated standard by the Crown Commercial Service. It is the best practice quality standard for Education recruitment businesses and compels members to go beyond statutory safeguarding standards and aim for excellence in competency selection and service quality.

Every member of our teaching staff are subject to the following checks as part of our registration process.

• Face to face/video call interview with one of our Education Recruitment Consultants who will have undergone Safer Recruitment and Safeguarding training. This interview will include value-based questions
• Proof of address, identity, change of name, National Insurance number, right to work verified
• Full, clear 10-year employment history or back to compulsory education, whichever is more recent
• At least two satisfactory professional references
• Enhanced DBS certificate, updated annually or checked every 12 weeks if registered on the DBS Update Service
• Children Barred List check, checked at least every 12 weeks
• Disqualification Under the Childcare Act 2006
• Proof of Qualifications, including mandatory Safeguarding & Prevent Duty Training
• TRA (Teaching Regulation Agency) checks, checked at least every 12 months
• Overseas Police Clearance obtained if candidate has lived/worked overseas for 6 months or more within the last 5 years
• Medical Check – confirmation that each candidate is medically fit to work in an education setting
• Full explanation of Textbook Teachers’ company expectations that all candidates are asked to adhere to this at all time.
